Latest news: Examination in Public

The Examination in Public (EiP) was held into the WMRSS Phase 2 Revision Preferred option between April 28th and June 24th 2009.   

Next steps: Panel Report

The Secretary of State appointed an independent Panel to hold the Examination in Public.  The Panel has now submitted its report to the Secretary of State outlining its recommendations. The Panel’s Report was published on Monday 28th September 2009 and can be downloaded here.

Next steps: Proposed Changes 

The Secretary of State will consider the Panel Report recommendations before publishing his Proposed Changes to the draft Phase 2 Revision.  The Proposed Changes document and a statement identifying each of the proposed changes together with the reasons, will be made available on the Government Office and WMRA websites together with a further statement advising where and when these documents will be available for inspection.

NLP Study

Following the WMRA’s submission of the RSS Phase 2 Revision Preferred Option on 21 December 2007, Baroness Andrews wrote to the Chairman of the WMRA expressing concern at the level of housing proposed in the context of achieving the Government’s Housing Green Paper targets.  Baroness Andrews asked GOWM to commission further work to examine how additional housing could be accommodated in the region and Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners (NLP) were appointed to undertake this work.  The study was published on 7th October 2008 and was submitted as evidence to the EiP.
